Boffo the Pirate

The tale is told from coast to coast;
from sea to sea; from shore to shore.
So sit back matey and listen a while,
as I tell the tale once more -
Of a pirate mean, and foul and cruel.
"Captain hook? " you ask. Oh No.
"Long John Silver or Bluebeard then?"
No, it's not a name that you know.
But his is a place of glory
in the book of pirate fame-
and Captain (don't laugh, I mean really don't laugh)
Captain Boffo was his name.
Now, hearing his name, and seeing his face
painted white with a big red nose,
with wild orange hair that points this way and that,
you might think him a clown, I suppose.
But don't laugh, I mean really don't laugh, if you do
his temper will soar into space
and you might end up forty fathoms below-
or get a cream pie in the face.
