Johnathan Crooks
Is crazy for books.
He has twelve thousand books- maybe more.
There are books everywhere–
In the sink, on the chair,
And on every square inch of the floor.

Books about feet,
And how to be neat
He keeps inside of the freezer.
Inside his stove
He has a trove
Of books about Julius Caesar.

Books about diction
And other non-fiction
He keeps in the living room.
But nautical tales
About sailors and whales
Get the closet right next to the broom.

Johnathan crooks
Has twelve thousand books
So you know he really must love ‘em-
But the oddest this is,
Though these books are all his,
He never has read even one of ‘em.
