Disappearing Summer
Some showy magician with a smile and a laugh
has done one trick too many, I fear,
and while we weren't looking, with a wave of his hands-
he made summer disappear.
Oh please bring it back, we pleaded and cried
and with a sly look on his face,
he again waved his hands- then lo and behold
there were school days in it's place.
I just can't believe that he tricked me
and made summer disappear-
but what really makes me crazy is:
I fall for it every year.
